Lam. 3:21-24 But this I call to mind,
and therefore I have hope:
The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases,
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
“The LORD is my portion,” says my soul,
“therefore I will hope in him.”But we forget all the rest of the Book of Lamentations. The verses preceding 3:19, for example, make 19-21 seem as if the author is describing a mild discomfort, but if you read even just a few more verses in chapter 3 (let alone the whole book) you begin to realize that there is the deepest distress here.
